The tests we use to see how your heart is working. Each page explains what the test measures, what having it is actually like, how long it takes and what the results can show.

Most cardiac tests are non-invasive and take under an hour. What differs is what they measure. Some record the electrical activity of the heart, some image its structure, some look at blood flow through the arteries, and some track what happens over days rather than minutes.

Each page explains what the test is looking for, what happens on the day, whether there is anything to prepare, how long it takes and when results follow.

If a test has been recommended to you, its page is a reasonable thing to read before the appointment. It will not tell you what your result means, but it will tell you what to expect on the day.
