COVID 19 and the treatment of hypertension

There has been a lot published in the media about the relationship between COVID-19 and hypertension (high blood pressure). In this video Singapore cardiologist Dr Michael MacDonald goes over the available data on COVID and high blood pressure and offers practical advice on how to manage hypertension during this pandemic. The controversy largely stems from the fact that the virus enters cells using the ACE-2 receptor which is also involved in high blood pressure and some high blood pressure medications utilize the ACE-2 pathway (ACE-Inhibitors and angiotensin receptor blockers).
